Day 50 Looking Up

Istanbul is an amazing city and within minutes of arriving, it quickly rose to the top of my favorite cities list.  This is actually quite a feat seeing as how I have been to other wonderful cities like San Francisco, New York, Paris, London, Barcelona and Washington DC; but there is just something about Istanbul that I really like.

The weather was rainy and cold on our first day, which is never fun when you are planning to spend the day wandering around the city, but if it hadn’t been rainy and cloudy I would not have been able to get this picture of the Blue Mosque.  Just the sight of it is beautiful in itself, but then to look at it and see the minarets disappear into the clouds like they are reaching towards Heaven is inspirational. And although I don’t share the same opinion as Muslims, I found the mosques to be a constant reminder that there is someone out there much bigger than me.

Adjustments: contrast, hue, vignette, darkening

Until next time, goodnight.
