Day 253 Piazza della Rotonda

In Rome one thing that we saw a lot of, were columns.  These columns are on the front of the Pantheon looking out into the very busy Piazza della Rotonda.  A large open square filled with tourists, students, street salesmen and performers, and couples making their way to a cafe.  In the center of the Piazza is a fountain that was built in the 1500’s as a means to bring water to the people.  Today, the fountain has been added onto and it just used as a nice place to sit, enjoy the view of the Pantheon and let the sound of the water splashing drowned out the noise of the busy Piazza.

Until next time,

  1. I like the pillars, but I can’t decide if they make me feel locked in or safe. 🙂

Let me know what you think!
